The IB Diploma Program at MHS
Since 1981, the most rigorous course of studies offered to the students of Meridian High School is the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP). This program of advanced internationally recognized syllabi and external examinations offers a comprehensive and world-class education during the last two years of high school. The IB DP is designed as an academically challenging and balanced program of education with final examinations that prepare students for success at university and life beyond. The program has gained recognition and respect from the world’s universities.
Students pursuing the full IB Diploma must complete the curriculum of the "DP Core" of Creativity Activity and Service, the Extended Essay, and the Theory of Knowledge course, and one course from each of the six subject groups. The six subject groups are:
Studies in language and literature
Individuals and societies
An elective, such as the arts or an
additional course from either Individuals and Societies or the Sciences
Students not wishing to pursue the full diploma may still take DP courses from any of the six subject groups. The “typical Mustang” will enroll in between two and five IB DP Courses. Students who fulfill the requirements for these courses will receive an IB certificate for each of these classes.
