Falls Church City Public Schools is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for people of all races, nationalities, religions, genders, and ethnicities. Since the beginning of the pandemic, our country has witnessed an increase in the violence and harassment targeting Asian Americans. On Tuesday, March 16, the fatal shootings in Atlanta were the latest in a series of tragic and painful experiences.

FCCPS grieves with and for the families of the victims. We condemn hate and bigotry that have no place in our, or any, community.

The FCCPS School Board, to ensure equity, safety, an inclusive environment, and excellence for all, is in the process of vetting and adopting an Equity Policy that speaks to our collective and community values. Find it here: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Policy.

The Board will take action on this policy at the April 13, 2021 meeting. All meetings are streamed on the FCCPS YouTube channel. Further, our Division Equity team continues to interrogate our policies, practices, curriculum, and instruction to support a school experience where all feel included. We know our students will translate this experience into the world and life when they leave FCCPS.

If you are a victim of harassment of any kind, please report it to the proper authorities as soon as you are able. If you are a student, please also connect with your family, a teacher, or another trusted adult.
