In the planning stages of Falls Church City Public Schools' new high school, Meridian High, the design was built on the tenets and principles of sustainability. To that end, there are now hundreds of geothermal wells underneath the new athletic fields, a photovoltaic array agreement soon to be signed to ensure we have solar panels on the roof, and Meridian is a Leed Gold building.
About three years ago, a discussion began with science teachers about a curriculum associated with sustainability. That idea grew into what we now call an "Academy for Sustainability Thinking."
On Tuesday, January 25th, that initial team updated the Falls Church School Board on its progress.
